COVID-19: Why Now is the best time to change your Autistic Child’s Diet

If you are a parent of a child on the Autism spectrum, you might have thought about trying to change your child’s diet but did not have the time to do it.   You might have been one of those parents that felt it was just too much work, even though you saw the benefits other families had. Keep reading because I will be sharing with you the  Autism and Covid-19 guide to help your child.

With all that is going on in the world today, I would like you to know that NOW is a great time for you to start improving your Autistic child’s diet.  You might be thinking NO WAY but I am here to tell you that doing it NOW will be less stressful than changing when the country gets back to normal.  COVID-19 has forced us to stay home and social distance.  I would like to share with you a few reasons why I believe the time is NOW.

#1 You Have Control

You currently have 100% control over what your child is eating and this is a good thing.  Since everyone is now home and the majority of schools are now closed, you don’t have to worry about anyone feeding your child something they shouldn’t be consuming.  This will be very helpful since you will be able to monitor closely and stay on track without hiccups from external sources.

#2 You can identify Changes easier

Because your child will be home with you, relying on someone else to tell you if your child’s behavior is improving will no longer be an issue.  When you start anything new with your autistic child, it is very important to monitor how your child is reacting.   Some kids present behavior changes after changing to different foods.  Some are good and some are not so good but you must be able to identify this.

#3 You don’t have to pack food

When you first start implementing a diet change in your child, packing food for them is very important when you are on the go.  You will not have to worry about this right now because everything is closed so you are forced to eat at your home.  This can save you a massive amount of time in the kitchen which makes changing now more important.

#4 You don’t have to worry about being invited to social gatherings

Social gatherings can sometimes be difficult for kids that are not allowed to eat that gluten-filled birthday cake and candy.  Kids will watch what other kids eat and want to eat the same foods.  You as parents will have to try and find alternatives to help your child not feel left out.  Now you don’t have to worry about this because you are not getting invited to any birthday parties.

In conclusion, even though staying home with your family and social distancing might have you down and out, why not use this time to help your autistic child and family get healthier.  Right NOW is the best time for you to make this change and improve your child’s nutrition.  Doing the Autism and Covid-19 guide will not only lead to a better quality of life for your autistic child but also nutrition will improve your child’s immune system.  If you are one of those parents that are looking for help please sign up below for my free webinar “Four Steps to a Happy child on the Autism Spectrum“.
