Best Chicken Stock Recipe

Chicken stock is full of nutrients that are essential for growing bodies. While it might not seem like much, chicken stock is actually packed with protein, calcium, phosphorus, and other vitamins and minerals that are vital for proper development. Adding just a cup or two of chicken stock to your child's diet can make a big difference in their overall health.

Ingredients
 
 

  • 2-3 lbs Pastured skin-on turkey or chicken thighs or a whole pastured chicken cut up
  • 3-4 Carrots coarsely chopped
  • 1 Small Onion peeled and quartered
  • Handful black peppercorns
  • 1-2 tsp Celtic salt
  • 2-3 Sprigs of fresh rosemary and/or thyme
  • Water bring water 2 inches above chicken
  • 2-3 Garlic cloves to finish

Instructions
 

  • Rinse the whole chicken or the chicken bones under cold water. This will remove any blood or impurities from the bones so that they don't end up in your final product.
  • Place all ingredients in a 5-6 quart Dutch oven. Bring to a boil. Skim and discard the scum.
  • Keep at a low simmer for 1 ½ – 3 hours, or place the pot in the oven and cook at 300°F for 3 hours. If using crock pot, cook for 1 hour on high, then 6 hours on low.
