Easy way how to make chicken stock at home

  1. Rinse the whole chicken or the chicken bones under cold water. This will remove any blood or impurities from the bones so that they don’t end up in your final product.
  2. Place all ingredients in a 5-6 quart Dutch oven. Bring to a boil. Skim and discard the scum.
  3. Keep at a low simmer for 1 ½ – 3 hours, or place the pot in the oven and cook at 300°F for 3 hours. If using a crock pot, cook for 2-3 hours on high, then 4-5 hours on low. Chicken should be fully cooked.  Crockpots vary so the time will vary depending on your crockpot.

  • 1 Small Onion peeled and quartered
  • Handful black peppercorns
  • 1-2 tsp Celtic salt
  • 2-3 Sprigs of fresh rosemary and/or thyme
  • Water bring water 2 inches above chicken
  • 2-3 Garlic cloves to finish
