Fast food vs home cooked meals for your autistic preschooler
Have you ever thought about the difference between feeding your autistic child fast food versus home cooking?
If so, continue reading this blog post because I’m going to share with you some things you should consider when you’re trying to determine whether you want to feed fast food vs home cooking for your autistic preschooler.
#1 In fast food, you might not be aware of the ingredients in your Child’s food.
So, the first thing that you should consider is the ingredients.
When it comes to fast food it’s hard to determine if your child is truly on a gluten-free or dairy-free diet.
And if you’re doing a gluten-free diet.
You want to know that your child has not had any gluten to monitor progress.
Many restaurants are not familiar with what gluten is.
So they will tell you that something is gluten-free and it might not be.
And you don’t know if they’re using something that has been hidden.
Like for example soy, gluten, or dairy which is common in a lot of fast food.
#2 Several sneaky ingredients that could cause aggravation for your child’s symptoms.
The second thing that you should consider is that in fast food several sneaky ingredients could cause aggravation for your child’s symptoms.
For example, ingredients such as MSG, artificial flavor, and artificial colors could be a trigger for your child’s behavior and it could make things worse.
So, I would like to hear from you in the comments have you recently switched from relying on fast food to home-cooked meals.
If so, let me know how the switch went in the comments below.
#3 Difficult to monitor specific ingredients/reactions.
And the third thing that you should consider when it comes to fast food over home cooking is the fact that fast food makes it a lot more difficult for you to monitor specific ingredient reactions.
So if your child is reacting to something after you feed them you are not sure of which ingredient it is that they’re reacting to.
Therefore, it makes it very difficult when you’re trying to identify triggers for your child’s reactions when you have no clue what ingredient is actually in the food.
Parents that are switching to a more nutritious diet for their child and they’re noticing negative behaviors but still relying on fast food can be difficult.
#4 It is very difficult to sneak nutrients into the food.
The final thing to consider when it comes to fast food versus home cooking for autistic preschoolers is the fact that when you rely more on fast food for your child it is very difficult to sneak nutrients into the food.
If you’re trying to get your child to consume more fruits and vegetables.
It is easier to add them to foods if they do not eat them separately.
To do this, you have to prepare the food at home to add in more nutrients.
As you might notice, I rely more on a home-cooked meal for my child.
And this is basically because if you are starting any die.
And it is important to know exactly what ingredient might be the problem for your child.
I believe that considering all these things I mentioned above is very important when it comes to determining whether you want to do fast food versus a home-cooked meal for your child.
