9 Tips to Keep Your Child Healthy This Winter

As the weather gets colder and the days get shorter, it’s important to take extra care of your child’s health.

Here are 9 tips to help your child stay healthy this winter.

Wash their hands regularly and often

The first tip to keep your child healthy this winter is to teach them how to wash their hands properly and regularly. This is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of germs and illnesses.

Teaching them how to wash their hands properly throughout the day and especially before they eat or after they use the restroom can help prevent catching illnesses this winter.

Avoid close contact with people who are sick

The next tip is to avoid close contact with sick people. This means keeping your distance from people who have cold or flu-like symptoms.

And if someone in your household is sick, be sure to isolate them from the rest of the family as much as possible.

Stay warm and dry

The next tip is to stay warm and dry. When it’s cold outside, dress your child in layers and make sure they’re staying dry (i.e., not sweating).

Wet clothes can make them more susceptible to illness, so be sure to change them into dry clothes as soon as possible if they do get wet.

Drink plenty of fluids

And don’t forget to give your child drinks that are plenty of fluids. It’s important for children to stay hydrated, especially in the winter when they’re more likely to be indoors where the air is dryer. Make sure they’re drinking plenty of water throughout the day, and avoid sugary drinks like juices and sodas which can actually dehydrate them further. Eat healthy foods

The next tip is to feed them healthy foods. A healthy diet is important for everyone, but it’s especially important for children whose bodies are still growing and developing.

Be sure they’re getting plenty of fruits, vegetables, and protein in their diets.

Get enough sleep

The seventh tip is to make sure that they get enough sleep. Most children need at least 10 hours of sleep per night, so be sure they’re going to bed early enough to get a full night’s rest.

A tired child is more susceptible to getting sick, so this is an important step in keeping them healthy this winter season.

Take time outdoors every day

And it is also important that they take time outdoors every day. Even on cold or cloudy days, spending some time outdoors can help improve your child’s mood and overall sense of well-being. Just be sure they’re bundled up properly before heading outdoors!

Keep indoor spaces clean

Another essential way to prevent illness is by regularly cleaning common areas in your home where germs are known to linger. This includes door knobs, light switches, countertops, remote controls, etc.  When washing tries to use products that are non-toxic.  I love cleaning with essential oils and these products are amazing.

Keep your child’s immune system strong
